How to relax?

Here's what's on my random on-going to-do list this week:

  • Megan wedding gift
  • Repot plants
  • Bring Camp's dinner
  • Breyton 18 mo appointment
  • Massage
Which would you "cross off" first???!!

I have had "schedule massage" on my to-do list in my planner for weeks now. How does someone not do that! Even worse, it's a free one-hour massage! I've had a gift certificate since Christmas for a massage at Massage Envy!

I think the problem is that, what is the "right time" for a massage?? I think that's why it's not getting scheduled. Do I plan it for the beginning of a week, and start my week off nice? Do I plan it for following a busy week and end it well? Do I just go out and get it spontaneously and hope I'm not "wasting" it?

The last time I got a massage, I felt so rushed in getting there and getting it "done" that it didn't turn out to be too relaxing. So this time I can't figure out how to be laid back about it! Now, I have to find a time that Jon's home, Breyton's occupied or napping, I don't have something coming up that afternoon/evening, I don't have 10 more pressing things to do first....

Also, last time, I had a beast of a woman give me a massage. I had to tell her at least three times to lighten up (and I can take a good deep massage) but she never really got to a comforting point. The whole time she did my shoulders and neck I was cringing in pain more than relaxing. Then the rest of it was hard to focus back to relaxing. Then for almost everyday for 2 months I got, what I came to find out as, tension headaches from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed. So bad that I contemplated going to the ER but instead visited the doctor office first. I took tension headache medicine (by suggestion of my migraine attracting friend, Maggie) and did stretches to my neck through the day (also a Maggie suggestion) and they slowly went away. So now I have a slight fear of Massage Envy. Needless to say, I will request not to have that lady again!

So, tell me, what is a good time to schedule a massage and how to prepare for it??

Jenn!I just stumbled across this! You have a blog! How fun! :) Liz told me to go to hers, so I was, and then I saw your name. Right now all three of my children are sleeping! Quiet! :) I promised Liz I'd look at it soon, so I am, and I am looking at yours too! Love you friend! You are a hottie !

Jenn, I love the massage dilema. Its a good one to have :) Wow, you sure are a busy woman, dinners, mothering, gifting. Give yourself a break. I say, read a big in your ginormous tub!

All I have to say is that if one of your biggest dilemmas right now is when to get a massage, you're doing pretty well. :)
And I don't think I ever asked what happened with those headaches you were getting. I'm glad they finally went away and that my suggestions helped. I guess my chronic headaches are good for something!

    Love you, girl!
