Children's Museum

8/4/09 -- Tuesday

The Wiemans, Grace, Jeff, and Caleb, and Breyton and I went to the Children's Museum in Denver. Every 2nd Tuesday of the month they have a free day from 4-8pm. So after a wonderful suggestion by Grace, we finally got to get our boys together to play and catch up between us {moms}!

Caleb and Breyton are only 5 weeks apart so Grace and I got to be pregnant together, her more than me :) She had a good size basketball, I had a good size soccer ball I think. She looked great. She did have a {9lb somethin'} baby though! This woman is a strong woman in more ways than one, let me tell you!

We started off the museum with the {Fireman's} area. Every area has little costumes to put on to "play the part." Breyton could care less about what I put on him that day but he did not like any of the hats! In the fireman area he kept wanting to push buttons on this phone on the wall that teaches you to dial 911. Other kids would come over and dial the correct numbers for him as he just played away. We didn't get a chance to drive the fire truck due to the masses of small children crammed in the driving area.

Then we went to the {train} area where you could build train tracks and set up landscaping... trees and such. Breyton just wanted to chew on the trees. He made the trains roll on the tracks for a few minutes but that's about it. Jeff and Caleb were far more entertained in this area!

Then we went to a "gym" area where they had a small basketball court that taught you how to play HORSE. Breyton just liked opening and closing the lockers. He never got to play basketball, too many big kids. Then there was a grocery store area that had shopping carts and a check-out line and register and then a restaurant counter. I think this was the busiest area with the most children per square feet! All the "food" was off the shelves because all the kids were hoarding it all in there baskets! I mean, really, did they think they had the money to buy all of that! :) Poor Breyton and Caleb had to pick up random food off the floor to put in their basket. Grace and Jeff joke that Caleb will be a janitor because of some of the things he does. Sure enough, he was mopping the floors in the grocery store! :)

So then somewhere in there, there was an "insect" tunnel (crammed full of children of course!). When you got through the tunnel, there were all kinds of "outdoors" stuff to play in (spider web, bird's nest, tree house, ant hill, etc) and costumes to put on. We thought it would be fun to help the boys go through the tunnel. It was just a little less tall than they were so they could almost walk through it. We started through, but I think the combo of multitudes of loud kids and darkness were a little too much for them. I pretty much carried Breyton through (on my hands and knees of course!) and I think Grace and Caleb turned around. Then, {costumes!} I thought this ant costume was hilarious and had to put it on Breyton. He didn't care a bit, even about the hood- he just waddled around in it having fun! On the other hand, Caleb screamed with the worm costume. I mean, I wouldn't want to be a worm either! :)

Next, there was an area that had a stage with a bunch of costumes and then a big magnetic board off to the side of it to spell words and such. We dressed the boys up in {King} outfits... I mean, do they deserve anything less??!!

We went to more areas but ended in the {construction zone.} Caleb had fun truckin' the wheel barrel around, Breyton enjoyed it after he figured it out! (I guess Caleb has had previous experience!) Breyton really liked the dump truck, but liked being pushed around in it even more! Aren't the vests the cutest things ever?!!

We ended our day with the boys being very disappointed to leave their fun filled play-land but happy to eat McDonald's happy meals. They both had Chicken McNuggets and apples. Yum. I think B liked sitting next to Caleb, being his same size and eating in the same manner! He kept leaning over and touching him :) Caleb would just look at him like, "what are you doing?"

I think Grace is right when she says, "they don't know it yet, but they will grow up to be great friends!"

I'm terrible, but my favorite picture was of Caleb crying in the worm suit. It was just so funny!

I loved the Children's Museum solely because I was with you and B! Anyway, came across your blog today, and enjoyed reading it. Love you so much hottie! :) Grace
