I love Hawaiian accents, how they pronounce "Hawaii" in a way that I can't even try to imitate. Fun.
So we made the 8 hour trek across the ocean to the tropical oasis of Honolulu, Hawaii! Breyton did as well as could be expected on such a long flight. Our first flight to Phoenix was only 2 hours and went super smoothly. The second flight to Honolulu was 6 hours and Breyton did not look as excited to get onto another airplane. We occupied our time with books, toys, food, passing to gma/gpa across the aisle, video on Dad's computer, headphone plugging in and out of the armrest, walks up and down the aisle, playing on the floor, and 2 thirty minute naps. Whew! I didn't know if we'd make it the last 2 hours or not. B was melting down... with good right too!
So we arrived to our condo in Waikiki around 4pm which is 8pm Colorado time. We were all very tired and hungry so the family went out and got groceris while Breyton and I took a nap. Family came home, cooked and came to get us up but Breyton would not budge awake no matter what I did. So, he stayed in bed and slept while we ate. Jon and I took a short walk down to the beach and then came back to watch Amazing Race with Kim and Randy. (I can't believe that couple got out because she wouldn't go down a WATER SLIDE!! Come on!) Breyton woke up sometime later and came hung out for a few minutes and then went back to bed with us. We went to bed at 8:30pm Hawaii time :) Obviously going to bed that early, baby woke up at 4am (8am our time) so we were up to welcome the day pretty early!
Being up early has it's perks! We have more than enough time to do whatever we want! At 6:30am we were out at the beach letting Breyton see and play in the water and sand. He was not a fan of his legs being buried in the sand by me and getting his hands sandy (what can I say, the boy is a neat boy!) But he loved the water! Afterward, we came back and cleaned up and went to a thing down in the lobby about different events happening. Later, we ate lunch (at like 9am) and headed out to Diamond Head and hiked to the top. Jon and I took note that it is nice to have an amply supply of oxygen when you hike. Your muscles still get tired but you don't get very winded! Very nice. Although, some other hikers (it was pretty busy) looked like they walked off the beach and came to hike. I was like, "really?" I laughed at the sign at the start of the hike. "This is not a stroll in the park hike." It informed you of uneven pathways, lots of stairs, and dark tunnels (bring a flashlight). It was 1.6 miles total. Yeah. It did have lots of stairs though and 2 tunnels (but we were A-Ok without a flashlight). Nice view from the top. On the way down, there's a guy somewhere towards the bottom congratulating you on your success and trying to sell you t-shirts that "you can only get here" and they will be your "bragging rights" to all your friends. Jon said he'd probably be mocked if his friends saw him wearing a shirt that bragged about his 566 vertical feet accomplishment. Good ol' Colorado. Jon also did the hike with Breyton strapped to his back and got many comments from people going, "whoah, he's doing it with a baby even!" Nice honey :)
Came home and Kim, Breyton and I went to the pool while the husbands did some work. Breyton tested out him water wings - which if his arms stayed put and his head up, they would work. Went back to the room for popcorn, which Breyton and Grandpa devoured together on the couch as usual and then Breyton went down for a nap. Kim and I went down to the courtyard to make lei's. We should go pro. Kidding. They smell really amazing though. Came back to the room and lei'd our husbands... oooh, yeah, that's right. Now we are getting ready to have dinner (at 4pm again) and then go watch the sunset off the coast at 6:22pm. I was just informed by my husband that flowers behind your right ear means you're available and taken if behind your left. I moved mine from my right to left. :)

What a lovely update of what you are up to. It made me feel connected to you...a looong ways away. But guess what? I've been pumping and pumping and using your cover...no baby to cover, yet, but its been nice to have a little privacy! THANK YOU! Thanks for praying. Love, Liz

Hey Jen,
found your blog! I'm glad you're having a great time. You're so funny - in person and in writing too! :) I'm glad Breyton survived the trip over pretty well!
