My baby had his 18 month check-up today and got his DTAP and Flu shots and didn't even blink! No tears, no nothing. He was very enthralled with the Garfield bandaids that he got though! What a trooper. I was preparing for prolonged crying. The nurse though, not my favorite one ever, didn't even bring him a sticker or toy or anything! That's not even nice!
On the vaccination note... Breyton got his first flu shot! I felt the decision about the flu shot was so much easier versus the H1N1 vaccine. Not so sure we'll be doing that one, not even sure I want to venture into getting it the more I hear about it. The newest thing I saw was a FOX News newscast about it and the mercury levels it contains. I don't know, even without what people have to say about it, am I willing to give my 1 1/2 year old a vaccination that hasn't really been tested or given yet? The flu shot has been out a long time and the research is done to tell you side effects and risks of it. The H1N1 vaccine has nothing substantial. I asked Dr. Samuelson if he would give it to his kids, but his response was that he thought they might already have it. His family just got a round of icky flu. Therefore, they wouldn't need it. So he didn't really give me an answer. I think it's risky.

What are your thoughts on it?

We're having trouble deciding if we want Grace to get the H1N1 vaccine too .... all of our resources (doctors and nurses) here are saying that we should get it for her ..... hmph!

Oh dearest dearest Jenn! Please call Joe if you have questions since he is so up to date on all the research...also Krista's brother Trevor is an Infectious Disease specialist at UNMC and Joe has consulted with him. Skipping the H1N1 may not be the best option, but of course, it is good to have freedom to decide what is best for your family. I have to get it, according to Joe, because I am so at risk : ) So, I'll be your guinea pig! Love you
